GIVEAWAY CLOSED
Review and GIVEAWAY!
Inspired by Finn is the "it" store for baltic amber and hazelwood jewelry. I have been asking around for sometime about whom I should go to in order to buy baltic amber jewelry, and both from my "crunchy" and not-so-crunchy real life and internet friends, everyone always suggests Inspired by Finn, even a woman in my library story time group sent me to them!
Now, what is baltic amber you ask? It is not a stone but a fossilized tree resin. Historically, baltic amber has been used in Europe as a natural and traditional remedy and curative for many ailments for centuries. (It is commonly known as "teething jewelry" there because it has been successfully used for treating teething discomfort for hundreds of years.) When baltic amber is worn on the skin, the skin’s warmth releases trace amounts of healing oils from the amber. These oils contain succinic acid and are absorbed into the skin. The lighter and more "milky" the color of the amber, the higher the amount of succinic acid in it. (So, we got the "Milk and Butter" colored necklaces.)
Baltic amber helps by:
- Relieving pain
- Strengthening the body's immune system
- Restoring energy
- Maintaining wellness
- Helping to break a cycle of (chronic) inflammation
Our story... Because of the CPSIA Small Parts Legislation law passed last February, Inspired by Finn can no longer sell jewelry specifically for children under three, but many people (including us!) got our baltic amber for "teething necklaces" for our children. We have had great luck using them for this purpose though, so I did want to comment about it! (Baltic amber has been used to help with teething pain for centuries in Europe!)
Since before the twins were born, I have been meaning to get them some baltic amber teething necklaces. Seriously, I thought of how cute they would be on tiny little newborns and how much it would help with their teething. I didn't know what I would do without them... But, I had twins, and I never actually got around to getting any.
Pumpkin and Peanut have been wearing them for just over a week now, and they have been wearing them right in the middle of this sickness mess. But, even with the sickness, I have noticed a difference. The biggest thing that I have noticed is that Peanut has completely stopped "gumming" me while nursing, which leads me to feel that she just doesn't hurt as much. I know that she is still "teething" because she is nursing so much, and because her pediatrician actually cringed when he looked in her mouth the other day. Before we were completely convinced her had a stomach bug, he even said that he wouldn't have been surprised if she just wanted interested in eating because her gums look so swollen. The fact that I have noticed a difference at all with them being so sick is reason enough for me to believe that they work! Pumpkin isn't cutting teeth right now, so I can't saw that I have seen any difference from him (but when he does start cutting teeth again, I'll update you!). (I will be adding pictures of the babies sporting their necklaces later today!)

Not teething related, but...
ReplyDeleteI bought some elastic band bracelets to help with a wrist injury. When I bought them, I had lost a lot of strength in that hand and was nervous that I would drop my baby as a result. Within a month of wearing 2 bracelets, I had full strength back in my wrist! I'm down to one bracelet now - I gave the other to my mom to help her own wrist problem.
I like the 4 Different Round 17 to 24 inch
ReplyDeleteI actually bought my two boys two from inspired by finn tonight with the paypal I had saved up but didn't have enough for one of my own. So I'd love to win one!

ReplyDeleteWe loved our necklace we got from Inspired By Finn but we no longer have it, another little girl in daycare was having teething problems and we let them borrow it since dd wasn't teething at that time. Unfortunately she broke it and the parents don't have the money to replace it. So we would love to win one.
ReplyDeleteMy favorites are the darker amber colored in anything 15-17 inches.

ReplyDeleteI LOVE the milk and butter elastic bracelet! It would be easy to take on and off while juggling my twins. It would also be less distracting then a necklace to be tugged at! Thanks for sharing this info with us. I am psyched to check it out further!

I love the amber disc in child-size.
ReplyDeleteWishing I'd bought more amber when I was last in that part of the world (it is incredibly cheap in certain parts of the Baltic and gorgeous). But since I only have a pendant and ring, the fusspot is clearly in need of her own jewelry.
Great giveaway! I have been wanting to try Inspired by Finn for my 10 month old who is working on her second set of teeth. My favorite product are the youth necklaces with the light amber oval beads. I've heard the lighter colors are supposed to have a stronger effect or something.

ReplyDeleteAmber is amazing in its healing powers and not just for children. For centuries people have used amber for arthritis, respiratory infections including chronic asthma, as a stress reliever that interacts with the body's nervous system and much much more. Explore more research from the medical community and you will see some amazing results for natural Baltic amber.

I love the Amber DISC and Light Mix - 17 to 21 inch.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite piece would be a Milk & Butter round - 17 to 22 inch necklace. These were sold out, however. I then decided I liked the Disc & Bean necklace; and bought one 22" length today. I like amber because no matter how big the chunks are, it is very light around the neck.

ReplyDeleteI like the "light-oval". My baby boy is having a tough time with teething and I'm not comfortable giving him the homeopathic (or pharmaceutical) remedies... so he teethes on his eco-friendly wooden toys and gnaws on our knuckles. I would love an amber necklace!
ReplyDeletecurlygoldy at yahoo dot com
You know, I can totally see how it would help with teething! It's tree sap, after all, and a lot of resinous trees have numbing chemicals in them...it would be a very softcore anesthetic, antiseptic, and comfort-gnaw all in one!

Hey! Just found your blog today and saw your Finn giveaway! My kids have been wearing these since learning about them after my daughter's birth 2 years ago. My son wears a earth tones chip necklace to help with his migraines and my daughter wore the rainbow round one for teething. She's not really teething anymore, but she's still wearing the necklace because it's cute! We get lots of compliments on them.
